Hamilton Bretherton provides comprehensive support across the firm’s diverse practice groups to meet the wide-ranging needs of our clients. He focuses his practice on corporate and transactional matters, including entity formation, real estate transactions, general business law, and estate planning. Known for being an empathetic listener who puts the individual first, Hamilton pairs micro-level legal expertise with a macro-level business understanding to help clients confidently navigate the bigger picture.
Prior to joining the firm, Hamilton gained multifaceted legal experience that deeply informs his current practice. He clerked for in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 company, a state business court chief justice, and a Power Four university athletics department navigating the rapidly evolving Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) landscape. Having collaborated closely with corporate executives, judges, athletic directors, and student-athletes, Hamilton leverages this diverse background to align legal solutions with the underlying business motivations and practical goals of his clients.
Hamilton earned a joint J.D./MBA from Wake Forest University, where he served as the Intercollegiate Competitions Chair of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Brigham Young University.
Outside the office, Hamilton and his wife serve together as Sunday School teachers for young teens. He can also be found playing hockey, picking up golf and padel, or spending time with his family, including their three boys, who are becoming avid soccer players.
